The Vilomah Journal for people experiencing a loss in the first 14 weeks of pregnancy was created to support people through pregnancy and baby loss. This Journal is suitable for anyone who has had a miscarriage, missed miscarriage, chemical pregnancy, termination for medical reasons, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy. It was created and written so that from the moment of finding out bad news, you will have a space to write your feelings and emotions and work through your loss and grief in your own time.

The Vilomah Journal is seven chapters, beginning while the reader is pregnant but has received bad news about their pregnancy. It gently guides you the reader through your experience of pregnancy loss, through the physical, emotional and social challenges from the moment your pregnancy begins, to the first anniversary of your loss. Each section contains relevant practical advice, emotional support, sensitive prompts and space to write your own story and document your journey, and your baby's life. With a section dedicated to understanding grief and how it effects us, this Journal is a comprehensive tool for navigating the difficult journey through loss, and to recovery and healing. We have included testimony from other parents who have walked that path to show you that you are not alone, and you will get through this.

The Vilomah Journal was designed by Claire Cullen and Jennifer Ryan who founded Vilomah.ie, a not for profit Social Enterprise established to promote better societal and community support for bereaved parents.

We are friends who met through a pregnancy loss support group. Both of us lost baby girls in the second trimester of pregnancy and have gone on to support scores of other women and couples through their own losses. Our daughters, Alex and Jessica are the inspiration for Vilomah and this book, and all our work, is dedicated to them.

One of the parts of pregnancy loss that we felt was hardest was leaving a hospital or doctors with bad news, and no tools for how to navigate the experience. We wanted to create a self-help tool that was immediate and accessible specifically for people experiencing pregnancy loss.

This Pregnancy Loss Journal took us almost two years to write. We have created versions for different stages of pregnancy to be as inclusive as possible. We designed this to allow parents to articulate their feelings and chart their grief and their healing, in private, in their own time and at their own pace.
